Dubai Opera presents, Messiah, the crowning achievement of the renowned composer George Frideric Handel. Performed by the Astana Opera Orchestra, The Festival Chorus, and conducted by Rob Johnston, the event promises to bring the 18th-century oratorio to life.

Messiah oratorio composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741, and first performed in the spring of 1742, has become one of the world’s most beloved and recognized choral works.

Created over two centuries ago, Handel’s celebrated oratorio - with its spectacular “Hallelujah!” chorus - will be conducted by Rob Johnston and will feature a combined force of 200 local and international voices and musicians by Astana Opera Orchestra and The Festival Chorus. The orchestra is guaranteed to take your breath away.

Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra

Symphony Orchestra of the State Opera and Ballet Theater "Astana Opera" was created in 2013 on the basis of the orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater named after K. Baiseitova.

The orchestra consists of over 120 musicians. All of them are laureates of national and international competitions, excellent cultural workers, honored figures of Kazakhstan.

The chief conductor of "Astana Opera" is Alan Buribayev, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Conductors of the orchestra - Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdin, Giuseppe Akuaviva, Ruslan Baimurzin, Elmar Buribayev.

The Festival Chorus

The Festival Chorus is an exceptionally talented group of singers drawn from across the UAE whose debut performance took place at the BBC Proms Dubai with Beethoven’s monumental Ninth Symphony in 2019.

With over 200 members of 25 different nationalities, the chorus reflects the melting pot of the UAE and its diverse mix of cultures and backgrounds in the country’s population. Many of the singers have performed with large choirs on opera stages in their home countries.

Rob Johnston, Conductor

Rob Johnston, a Royal Academy of Music graduate, is a renowned tenor soloist and conductor. He's performed worldwide, from the Royal Albert Hall to Buenos Aires. His notable on-screen appearances include the feature film Dorian Gray, and he has recorded with many acclaimed conductors.

As the conductor of RSVP Voices, Rob has left his mark on film, TV, and live events, collaborating with artists like Elton John. Since 2019, he's led the Dubai Festival Chorus, orchestrating impressive performances with international orchestras. Rob's musical journey continues to inspire worldwide.

Dubai Opera at its sole discretion may only refund or exchange a ticket if an event is cancelled or rescheduled and you cannot attend the rescheduled event. This includes, but is not limited to, any circumstances related to Covid-19 which might prevent you from attending.

  • Dubai Opera can only replace lost, stolen or damaged tickets if the authenticity of the ticket can be verified, including proof of purchase, subject to replacement fee.

  • Dubai Opera reserves the right to add, withdraw, reschedule or substitute artists and/or vary advertised programmes, prices, seating arrangements and audience capacity without prior notice.

  • Admission to an event is subject to Dubai Opera’s Conditions of Entry which can be found on Dubai Opera’s website www.dubaiopera.com

  • Where concessions are applicable, valid proof of identity and concession entitlement must be provided for collection of tickets at the event.

  • Entry to the event may be subject to age restrictions specified in Dubai Opera’s website www.dubaiopera.com or in publicity for the event, and no refund will be made on the grounds that the ticket holder was not aware of such age restrictions. Children below 16 years must be accompanied by an adult

  • Dubai Opera reserves the right without refund or compensation to refuse admission/evict any person(s) whose conduct is disorderly or inappropriate or who poses a threat to security, or to the enjoyment of the event by others.

  • The ticket holder agrees to submit to any search for any prohibited items including but not limited to weapons, controlled, dangerous and illegal substances and recording devices.

  • Patrons arriving late to a performance will only be admitted into the venue at a suitable break. Latecomers may be seated in alternate seat locations to avoid disruption of the performance.

  • The use of mobile phones, camera and other electronic devised inside the auditorium are prohibited. Exceptions may occur depending on the type of event.

  • The ticket holder voluntarily assumes all risk and danger incidental to the event whether occurring prior to, during or subsequent to the actual event, including any death, personal injury, loss, damage or liability.

  • Food & Beverage purchased outside Dubai Opera are not permitted. Food and beverages are strictly prohibited inside the auditorium. This applies before the show, during the show and during the intermission. Exceptions may occur depending on the type of event.
