In Partnership with Dubai Opera

The UAE National Orchestra presents a special evening dedicated to the timeless masterpiece Carmen by French composer Georges Bizet. Through a selection of its most celebrated arias and orchestral moments, the concert brings to life the spirit, passion, and dramatic intensity that have made this work one of the most beloved operas in the world.

Performed as a symphonic concert, the program places the focus entirely on the richness of Bizet’s music, the beauty of the vocal performances, and the vivid character of the orchestral score. Carefully chosen highlights capture the essence of Carmen, from its vibrant rhythms to its powerful emotional depth.

Presented in this concentrated form, Carmen reveals the enduring energy and brilliance of Bizet’s music, an experience where the drama unfolds through sound alone, leaving a lasting impression long after the final note fades.

*Part 1*

Set in Seville, the story begins when Don José, a soldier, meets Carmen, a fiery and free-spirited factory worker. After a fight breaks out, Carmen is arrested but seduces Don José into helping her escape, leading him to abandon his duty and follow her into a bohemian world. As their relationship develops, Carmen grows increasingly independent, while Don José becomes deeply infatuated and torn between love and duty.

*Part 2*

Carmen eventually becomes bored of Don José and turns her attention to the toreador Escamillo. Despite Don José’s desperate devotion, she refuses to return to him. The tension culminates outside the bullring in Seville, where Carmen rejects Don José one final time. Consumed by jealousy and heartbreak, he kills her as the crowd celebrates inside.
