On May 30, Dubai Opera will host one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year — the Alexandrite Gala, an international ballet evening centered around the farewell world-tour of legendary dancer Ivan Vasiliev. Recognized as one of the most powerful and influential figures in modern ballet history.

Ivan Vasiliev, a global superstar who has reigned as a top principal dancer at the Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro alla Scala, American Ballet Theatre, and many other leading theaters around the world, has defined an entire era of ballet.

This performance marks the final journey of his extraordinary career — his last legend on stage.

With great repertoire of iconic works including Spartacus, Don Quixote, Flames of Paris,Talisman, and The Nutcracker, Vasiliev will perform Don Quixote and Talisman in Dubai.

Inès McIntosh from the Paris Opera Ballet and Kseniia Shevtsova from the Bayerisches Staatsballett, those amazing Prima ballerinas will take place as a partner of Vasiliev, Together they will present a breathtaking performance.

This prestigious gala will bring together principal dancers from world-renowned companies, including Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatre, Mikhailovsky and Novosibirsk theatre, Paris Opera Ballet and Dutch Nationale Ballet, alongside outstanding artists from Russia. The evening’s program will feature celebrated classical masterpieces, highlighting technical brilliance, emotional depth, and the timeless elegance of ballet traditions from around the world.

More than a performance, the Alexandrite Gala stands as a tribute to an extraordinary artist and a defining cultural moment for Dubai, reinforcing the city’s role as a global meeting point for art, creativity, and international dialogue.

Adding a special layer of intrigue, the evening will present an unexpected artistic fusion — where classical ballet meets the electrifying energy of a stadium-scale spectacle in a unique tribute inspired by the era of Freddie Mercury and the legendary band Queen.
