Comedy Night in association with Arts Canteen’s “Arabs Are Not Funny” is back by popular demand for the second time this year on 1 November with an exciting new line-up of comedians!

Omar Hamdi (Host)

Omar Hamdi returns to Dubai fresh from his British Academy Award winning BBC One programme and his comedy special “British Dream” streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The Egyptian-British comic, host and producer comes to Dubai Opera for another exclusive show with “Arabs Are Not Funny”.

Fatiha El Ghorri

Underneath Fatiha’s colourful hijab is a mind full of cutting observations and engaging witticism of the life and times of a British Muslim woman. Fatiha smashes the Muslim stereotypes and challenges people to think about what they think they know about Islam, Muslims, Muslim women especially. She tackles some tough subjects like Islamphobia and dating by sharing her own experiences which are funny, thought provoking and honest!

Nabil Abdulrashid

Nabil is arguably one of the most dynamic original and creative young talents of his generation, within two years of performing he had written his own TV show as well as starred in it and set comedy clubs a blaze across the UK with his energetic take no prisoners style and rapier wit.

“Nabil has been a professional stand up comic for over six years and has appeared on ITV, BBC2, Channel 4, Channel AKA, London Live, 5 Live, The Islam Channel, British Muslim TV & much more.

He’s toured the UK and abroad as a stand up comedian, Holland to Tanzania as well as a motivational speaker and has had over a million views on YouTube from his social commentary.

 

Maria Shehata 

Egyptian American comedian quickly making a name for herself in the UK. She has a conversational delivery and no-nonsense candor that is sardonic yet playful, and has been charming audiences all over the world. 

Maria is winner of Best Comedian at the Hollywood Festival of New Cinema, and Best Comedy at the Miami Web Fest where she was nominated for Best Actress. Maria was also shortlisted as one of the Five Best New Performers at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe by The 99 Club.
